Hooker
Hooker line up: Zoë McVeigh (guitar & Vocal) Mat
Skinner (bass) Danny Sharman (drums).
In 1998 Zoë had a chance meeting with a guy in a
Manchester club. Zoë knew he could play guitar and a
meeting was arranged. A few days later Zoë arrived at
his house with a guitar and played him her songs. Zoë
met Danny through a friend and knew he had a drum kit.
They found a bass player and the band Hooker was
formed. The name ‘Hooker' came from the film ‘Grease'
and the song ‘Beauty School Drop Out'.
In 2000, the original line up changed. Two band
members left and Mat (who Zoë met at work) became the
bass player. They played with a number of signed
bands including: The Donnas, Brassy, Interpol and the
Gossip. Hooker have recently been on tour with
Katastrophy Wife (Kat Bjelland).
The three-piece band are a dynamic force and focused.
Hooker regularly play up and down the country and are
establishing a wide fan base.
Fake DIY review
“Hooker, you see, feature a lead vocalist with the
most amazing voice Fake DIY has ever heard… A voice
that covers every dynamic, every emotion, every
volume… We honestly can't rave about it enough. On
top of that the songs are, quite simply, wonderful.
This is one band that has to be seen to be believed –
do it!”
